A wrecking ball fusion of blues and rock with a fuck ton of attitude to boot, Brave Rival’s ‘5 to 4’ is gorgeous and gutsy. Full throttle opening track ‘Let Me Rock N Roll’ is a sharp shooting, acid-tongued battle cry. The dirty groove and pounding drive of ‘Poison’ continues to prove ‘5 to 4’s’ point – this is pure, to the point rock. And that’s what we came for. Lindsey Bonnick’s velvet voice shines constantly. It’s a silky, unstoppable source of power regardless of the songs’ pace. ‘Try Again’ is slower but no less heavy and lets the guitars soar. Screw you anthem ‘Control’ is fast-paced and ferocious. Low down stomping rhythms and high octane hooks deliver ‘Wild Child’. Closing with stripped back versions of some of the songs enhances this record even further. ‘5 To 4’ is an absolute gem.
