The cleverly titled ‘Tales You Lose’ is stacked with tracks of a predominantly prog/rock/jazz/blues/funk nature. Full disclosure- for a (Goth) girl (Writing) whose music of choice tends to feature frequent swearing, rough voices and crushing riffs, Pearl Handled Revolver are refreshing and educational. The super chilled, “I wonder what’s making that noise?”, crazy keys enhanced ‘Black Rock’ is more than ten minutes long. Yer girl’s reviewed entire albums shorter than that!!!! Laced with such tender guitars, ‘Lightning’ is what calm sounds like. ‘Gilding The Lily’s’ sassy, easy groove swings from choppy to smooth. Bonkers ‘Space Invader’ manages to sound like its title suggests. If you like The Doors this album’s right up your street. And if you fellow rock guys and gals fancy something different – give ‘Tales You Lose’ a go.
