Root Zero

Dark Rainbow

Self Released

Out on May 16!!!

Lullaby of an opening tune ‘The Good Times Never Last’ is the first thing that hits you about Root Zero’s debut album. Well – strokes and soothes you into a spa-like setting more like. Closing your eyes… drifting away… But this ain’t our first rodeo. We know what’s coming. A quickfire move to turn the volume down. Because progressive metal masters Root Zero are bound to drop the ear-shattering musical violence sooner or later. It’s detonated in ‘Inner Turmoil’ – a fully loaded symphonic metal stormer with gorgeous twinkling keys and a striking contrast of Sasha Bannister’s smooth sweet vox and Giacomo Fiderio’s splintering harsh vocals. Throughout ‘Dark Rainbow’ the piano is gorgeous and the riffs are pummelling. When gentle the guitars create soundscapes. When played with punishing ferocity they raise hell. ‘Dark Rainbow’ is escapism - an atmospheric adventure through musical light and shade thanks to tracks which are sometimes blissful, sometimes brutal. It’s an indulgent and intriguing mix of metal past, present and future which sounds stunningly professional. Root Zero should be really proud.
