The Lighthouse
Self Released
Out on November 2!!!!
Shimmeringly rich and delightfully dark vocals, the coldest riffs and most hollow drums… Social Youth Cult’s debut album warms our post-punk adoring heart. It would fill our goth loving soul too, but we sold that a long, long time ago. ‘The Lighthouse’ is eight wickedly atmospheric tracks to send shivers down your spine. A strike straight to the jugular, quivering opener ‘Venus’ bleeds hypnotic guitars underpinned by a pulverising beat. Enticing ‘Close To Nothing’ beckons you in before building slowly and subtly to an eye-widening climax, while ‘The Man In The Photo’ will have that eye twitching with nerves and anticipation of what the next sound will be. The strength and heft of ‘Strange Times’’ bassline alone is enough to dislodge any demons lurking within. ‘The Lighthouse’ is a cascade of confident tracks which twist and turn, none sounding the same but each leaving its own little throbbing mark.
