There’s loud. There’s heavy. And then there's The Last Bastion. Battle ready, armed to the hilt with punishing riffs, adrenaline fuelled rhythms, frenetic shredding and a vicious full-blooded vox. The Last Bastion are firing on all cylinders and are gonna burn everything to the ground with this blistering debut album. Blending influences from metal’s rich history and adding a modern twist, the band then absolutely smash it out the park with their drive and authenticity. These boys are based in the Northeast of England but sound like they were forged from the fires of hell, escaping by carving themselves a path out using their bare hands and the power of singer Kev’s voice, with the flames licking at their heels. He injects a lot of emotion into that big old voice of his – the title track and ‘Through The Storm’ particularly showcase this. There’s truckloads of instrumental aggression across this album, which is soothed when some tracks (‘Screaming in Silence’, we’re looking at you) take a more melodious turn.
